FAQ

Where do you get Flax seeds in Graveyard Keeper 2?
From the crop itself. After researching Gardening you build Garden Beds for free, plant 4 seeds per bed, and every harvest hands back up to 4 seeds alongside the crops — buy the first batch and the crop re-seeds itself from there. The Seed Master perk adds a fifth seed per harvest.
What is Flax used for?
Three things. The Assembly Bench II Spinning wheel spins 16 Flax into 1 Fabric (2 with the Tailor perk), Fabric then becomes Supply: Fabric and Supply: Clothes for town orders. Paper glop consumes 12 Flax plus 1 Water for 3 units on the paper side, and Flax Thread feeds bows, poles and candle recipes.
How long does Flax take to grow?
Crops grow on the garden tick: a base 2:00 per tick, 1:45 with Garden Upgrade I and 1:30 with Upgrade II. The Harvest Prayer shaves another 0:20 off each tick, and growth fertilizers fill extra tiles per tick — mastery decides how many of the bed's 8 growth tiles fill each cycle.

What is Flax?

Flax is the fiber crop of Graveyard Keeper 2 — the raw input behind Fabric, paper and thread, and therefore behind the town’s Clothes orders. Unlike the metals, it grows itself: plant it, wait out the garden ticks, and harvest a bundle that re-seeds its own next planting.

How to get Flax

  • Research Gardening and build Garden Beds — they are free after the research unlocks.
  • Plant 4 seeds per bed. The Flax seed asks for Farming mastery 5 (bronze/silver/gold seed tiers exist for the other crops; Flax’s requirement sits between Carrot’s 4 and Beet’s 6).
  • Harvest up to 4 Flax + 4 seeds + 2 Leaf per bed. Bed upgrades raise how many growth tiles fill per tick, and the Farmer perk adds a crop, Seed Master a seed.
  • Automate it later: the Gardener Stand lets a zombie handle the planting and harvesting for you — the how to make zombies guide covers getting that worker.

What is Flax used for?

The consumption side is where flax earns its field space:

  • Fabric — 16 Flax → 1 Fabric at the Assembly Bench II with the Spinning wheel extension; the Tailor perk doubles that yield, and Fabric stacks into Supply: Fabric and Supply: Clothes.
  • Paper glop — 12 Flax + 1 Water → 3, the flax-heavy step of the paper chain that eventually feeds Science Kits.
  • Flax Thread — the light consumer behind bows, poles and candle recipes at the Formulation Bench.

Plan the field with the calculators

Fabric is the classic first factory line: one zombie at the Assembly Bench II eats 16 flax per craft, and the factory production calculator has that preset ready — run it and you will see why fields, not benches, end up the bottleneck. The production calculator costs the single craft down to ticks and energy, and the same supply logic that keeps the belt fed is documented step by step in the how to make zombies guide.
