FAQ

Can you craft Steel Ingot in Graveyard Keeper 2?
No. Three independent sources agree: vanilla Graveyard Keeper 2 has no ore-to-steel recipe at any station — the Furnace II recipe ends at Iron Ingot. This is the reverse of the first Graveyard Keeper, where steel was craftable, which is why so many returning players search for a recipe that does not exist.
How much does Steel Ingot cost?
Bishop sells it at the Royal Foundry for 1 silver per ingot, in batches of 1, 10, 50 or 100 — a full stack of 100 costs 1 gold. There is no buyback, no discount and no stock limit, so the price never improves; plan your silver income around it.
How do you unlock Bishop's steel supply?
Through the "Man of Steel" quest. Follow Jack's waterway clue at the Workshop, win the fight at Herbert's sluice ("Break Through to the Bathhouse Basement"), then bring 3 Steel Ingot to complete the quest and open the Royal Foundry supply. Reaching Jack reputation 70 also unlocks the Steel Smithing tech (120 red + 15 blue points).

What is Steel Ingot?

Steel Ingot is the late-game metal of Graveyard Keeper 2 — the gate to the Steel Anvil, high-tier gear and the biggest zombie collars. It is also the most counter-intuitive item in the game, because you cannot craft it. Your production calculator will tell you the same thing this page does: select Steel Ingot as a target and it reports NO SUCH GRAVE — there is no recipe to cost, in any station, at any mastery.

How to get Steel Ingot

Buy it from Bishop at the Royal Foundry. That is the entire supply chain, verified across three independent sources:

  • Price: 1 silver per ingot, sold in batches of 1 / 10 / 50 / 100 — 100 ingots cost 1 gold.
  • Availability: no buyback, no discount, no stock limit. The price is flat forever, so every silver you earn can convert to steel on demand.
  • Unlock: the “Man of Steel” quest. Follow Jack’s waterway clue from the Workshop, win the sluice fight against Herbert (“Break Through to the Bathhouse Basement”), then complete the quest by handing over 3 Steel Ingot to open Bishop’s supply.

What is Steel Ingot used for?

Every steel sink on the community wiki runs through the ingot, so budget the silver before the projects:

  • Steel Anvil — the workstation itself costs 4 Steel Ingot, and it unlocks the Steel Smithing line (Jack at reputation 70 buys the tech for 120 red + 15 blue points).
  • Steel Details and Steel Screws — 1 ingot → 4 Details at the Anvil, 1 ingot → 8 Screws; both are the fasteners behind the late workstation upgrades.
  • Steel weapons, armor and tools — 17 recipes, which need the Hardening Bucket as well; this is also your squad gear for the endgame battle.
  • Steel Zombie Collar — the top-tier collar fits corpses with up to 99 red skulls (1 Steel Ingot + 10 Faith).
  • Engineering Details — the Furnace II Casting Table turns 1 Steel Ingot into 2 Engineering Details (3 with the Gear Master perk) for factory upgrades, and steel kits feed Supply: Steel Tools for town orders.

Why the calculator says NO SUCH GRAVE

The Graveyard Keeper 2 production calculator refuses to invent a recipe, so Steel Ingot renders an honest empty state — the plaque literally reads NO SUCH GRAVE. That is a feature: if a future patch adds vanilla steel crafting, the data table gets re-verified and the page flips before any guide does. Until then, everything steel-adjacent — collars, worker pipeline, squad prep — connects back to silver income and the how to make zombies guide. For the metals you can smelt, run the production calculator on Iron Ingot’s two routes, and see Gold for the other premium ingot and the 100-silver-to-1-gold exchange that prices Bishop’s stock.
